Now, a note to moms everywhere… Because I know I’m not the only person who forgot this… Sunscreen. I know we all did our due dillagence and slathered our kids up before school yesterday morning. Knowing that the forecast was warm and sunny, we knew that every inch of them needed to be covered. But… did we remember ourselves? I’m sure that I’m not the only parent of the 700 kids who performed yesterday who came home looking like this….
I am ashamed. I am full of guilt. I am The Sunscreen Nazi. I share posts about sun safety, I remind everyone I know about sun safety, I make sure my daughter is covered and has a hat.
Yesterday, I failed. I forgot about me.
I feel like this is sometimes the norm for us, as mothers. We’re so busy taking care of things and people that we forget to take care of us. From this day forward, I will remember to put my mask on first. A painful reminder.
To cope, I’m using aloe with Frankincense essential oil as well as a spray I whipped up. The spray in a 1 oz spray bottle includes 3 drops Lavender oil to calm, 2 drops Peppermint EO to cool, 2 drops Frankincense to heal my skin along with a little witch hazel and water. I’m using it every hour to help.
